Capacitive Touch Fundamentals
Based on the principle of human body electrostatic field, the inner layer of the screen is coated with an indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent conductive layer, and the outer layer is covered with protective glass. When a finger touches the screen, the human body's electric field forms a coupling capacitance with the conductive layer, causing a change in the current ratio of the four corner electrodes. The controller calculates the current distribution to accurately locate the touch point.
Multi-Touch Implementation
Multi-finger operation is achieved through mutual capacitance technology: the screen is divided into independent areas, and each area is equipped with a mutual capacitance module (the intersection of the drive line and the sensing line). When a finger touches the screen, the capacitance change of adjacent electrodes is detected. The system scans the intersection of the drive line and the sensing line to eliminate "ghost points" (false touches), achieving accurate multi-point positioning. For example, an 11.6-inch capacitive screen already supports simultaneous ten-finger operation with a response time of less than 10 milliseconds.
